St John's is a parish with a strong progressive theology and energy for community care and development. 

St John's is a warm, accepting, welcoming and inclusive all age congregation, open to all seeking faith and Christian community from all backgrounds.

St John's tries to reflect the ethos of the Otumoetai/Matua/Bureta community. While reflecting its deep Anglican roots, parish worship and life is guided by an open and exploring theology.

Things to know about us!

+ We have a range of Parish Groups – e.g. AAW, Walking Group, Men’s Fellowship, Friends & Fellowship etc

+ We run the Bureta Road Community Centre providing a ToyBox  toy library: and a PlayGroup:

+ We hold workshops and seminars throughout the year with guest presenters on such topics as interfaith healing, theology, prayer, and social justice.

+ We have a Visiting Scholar in Residence from Vaughan Park, each year.

+ We have teams that offer Parish and Community Support through hospitality, overseas and local mission, pastoral ministry, and involvement in local groups around Tauranga
